- Byrdzeye

Hi Bruce,

We love your new solo CD! What a riot that Honey Dip song!!

- Cindy Foisy

Bruce,

First, great show last Friday in Gardner. Always enjoy seeing the whole band but it was great to hear you solo again, which brings up next comment, new cd is terrific! Hope to see you in Sterling this Friday. Best wishes with new cd,

- John & Nancy A.

Bruce,

Wow - absolutely LOVE the new CD - nice work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some great pickin and lyrics! Have a great Turkey Day and please give my best to Michelle!

- Russ

Good morning Bruce,

I just wanted to shoot you a quick message this morning and say thanks again for a great show last night. Paula and I had a great night out - we would have liked to have stayed later, but we had to free the babysitter.... You and Larry made a great combination. Thanks so much as well for bringing me up to play un-announced - what a thrill!!! I'm sure I've said it before, but it's a huge opportunity for me every time I get to play with you, in the company of such great players like Larry and the gang from the open mike. Not only do we all love listening to your playing and songwriting, but you involve us - the audience and players. That always makes for a special night, and makes us feel like we're really involved. I'm not sure if you get that kind of feedback often enough, so I wanted to pass my thoughts and appreciation along. You always make it a special night. Anyway, we're going to take the kids out today to see Ronda play at her coffee house gig in Medway. I'd like to start introducing my kids more to this awesome thing called "live performance". Have a great day, and I'll hopefully see you on Wednesday. Best regards,

- Bob

Hey Bruce!

Thanks for fitting Jon and me in last night! I really enjoyed hearing you play with some of the other regulars, too. Great John Lennon vocals, by the way! I appreciated your sharing your experiences in the current "music biz". I'm really trying to learn all I can, and I look up to you and other guys who've been at this a long time. You've got a lot to offer. My friend, Jon McAuliffe, who I played with last night, had a couple records out on Warner in the early 70's, and was a staff writer for UA in the late 70's, and knew Joni Mitchell, Maria Muldaur and others way back in the 60's. He's got some amazing stories, inclulding playing a show with Chuck Berry. Take care, and hope to see you again sometime soon! Best regards,

- Paul Speidel

Hey Bruce!

I just wanted to let you know that you are the talk of the town...county....counties!!!! I was so disappointed because one of our house guests threw her back out and getting to her partners performance Sat night was about all she could handle. But I was so pleased to hear, from a number of people from Chelsea to Norwich (where I work) that lot of people showed up and that you were terrific... and that John booked you for some more gigs this winter! We will definitely make it to at least one of those. One of my coworkers was so excited to find out that I knew you from high school days and couldn't have said more about what a great artist you are. Another person told Chuck that you are one of the best guitarists he's ever seen! And yet another person told me that she was completely blown away and has never seen John Beebe so happy! He's a great guy. Word travels quickly up here in the shire! Just thought you'd like to know! See you in a couple of months! Take good care,

- jo

Hi, Bruce & Michelle,

Just wanted to thank you for an awesome evening once again and for being so gracious to Padrick. He was very impressed that everyone remembered his name..that's a very big deal to a kid! I was watching his face when you sat down in front of him on the stage to play, you guys just made his first show so special for him and that means a lot to us. He had the most wonderful time and he already has the picture of himself and the band framed and in his room. I'm sure you'll be seeing him there again, he's already asking when you'll be playing there next. Thanks again and we'll be seeing you soon!

- John & Pat

Hi Bruce,

I just want to say thanks for making my 50th birthday at the tupelo on 9/15 a great night, The band sounded awesome, Thanks again!

- Kevin

Bruce,

Please do. If I'd been on that list after I moved to Pepperell, it woudn't have been so long in between things. You were on your game last night. Great show. I brought you a new fan who be going to more of your shows as well. We'll likely see you again at Strange Brew where I think you have a gig coming up. I did get to talk to some members of your band on the break. We had to leave before you finished due to the little one at home. Thanks for a fun evening and we'll catch up some time soon. You had a lot of fans there, no doubt too many to say hi to all. Again, it was terrific.

- Bruce

Bruce,

Got your message today but I, too, was out riding. Had to go to tupelo tonight for a show so not going to be able to catch up with you guys. Have fun! Glad you liked the new stage ighting and sound. That was about 65k of gear that was put in there. I heard it was a great show. -- "It's all about the music"

- Scott Hayward Tupelo Music Hall

Hi there,

I won't keep pestering you with e-mails, and you're probably still out on stage PLAYING at this point (!) but I had to write and first thank you so much for yet again bringing me up with your incredible band, despite the dramatic entrance.... and secondly, to apologize for ducking out early... my sister wasn't feeling well and was fading pretty quickly. What a treat to even get to sing at such a venue and with such great company :) Hope you don't get this e-mail 'til well into the afternoon tomorrow, and I'll see you in a couple of Wednesday's! Take good care and please give my best to Michelle and the rest of the guys,

- Britt

Ronda,

Good evening, and I hope all is well. I just read your "School of Bruce" piece on your website, and I thought it was just awesome. I thinks you hit the spirit of the open mike, and more importantly, the spirit of Bruce Marshall, right on the money. Funny, as I was reading about your apprehension going into the open mike sessions last year, I recalled having some of the same thoughts and feelings. Still do most nights. Even though I've played music for like 30 years now, and have played publically (sp?) in bands, there's something very exposing about being up there - just you and your guitar. That's where Bruce really shines. He has a way of inducing inspiration, providing confidence and generally getting you pumped up in a way that is very special. He's one of those rare individuals who we're lucky enough to meet every now and again, who can inspire us to reach higher. And while we're on the topic of inspiration, I love your email updates concerning your shows and performances. They keep me tuned in to the spirit of a live, individual performance, and they're inspiring me to get my "act" together (pardon the pun) to put my own gigs together. Perhaps one day I'll have the fantastic experience of playing with Bruce, as you did. That's so cool, and I'm still excited reading about your night. Awesome!!!

- Bob Colburn

Hi Bruce and band,

Saw your show last night at Tupelo Music Hall on Sat. 9/15/07. You guys never sounded better and you always make us feel welcomed, it's always great to see a Bruce Marshall show. The band sounded tight and the new drummer Steve is awesome, great fit for your band. We can't wait for the new cd's. As always, your fans from Word of Mouth, Methuen, MA.

Bruce,

Just Wanted to let You know That We Are GREATFUL For your performance At my 40th B-day party in clinton Back in May. I Had An Incredible Time. A lot Of People Have Been Asking For You. Thanks Again,Bruce, I'll Never Forget That Night, We Would Love To Here From You!

- Bill & Lynn Makey

The School of Bruce...

I've been there, heart and soul. I'm a student at The School of Bruce. Anyone who really knows me and reads the title of my article will immediately think I'm talking about Bruce Springsteen. Believe it or not, there is more than one amazing Bruce in the music business. I've come to realize that if you really watch, you learn. If you're honest and truly open to it, if you can manage to toss away your ego and pay attention, there's stuff to be learned. I walked into Bruce Marshall's Open Mic a newbie, not knowing a soul. To say it was unnerving is a gross understatement. I was quite certain that I wouldn't make the grade, whatever that was. Guitar jocks come out in force thereÉ What did I think I was doing? More than a year later, I'm still not sure. My voice isn't typical and my songs can be dismal and quirky. I'm not always okay with that, but then, I'm still learning my lessons. It's all about the music at The School of Bruce. There are lessons in courage, passion, patience, individuality, acceptance of self, common courtesy, frustration management; the list goes on. I've watched Bruce Marshall work small rooms at solo gigs. Always the professional, he can play an amazing guitar piece, sing, give a nod to friend, thank a fan and tweak his guitar all at once. He's incredibly interesting and fun to watch all the time. I've seen him with his band. The guy's a rock star. You know, I could go on and on, but here it is in the nutshell. He's absolutely genuine and unbelievably generous. Honestly. I still can't get over it. Let me tell you about last nightÉ I was performing from 7 until 10 P.M. at Main Streets Market and Cafe in Concord, MAÑjust across the square from the Colonial Inn where Bruce Marshall happened to be performing from 8 until 11 P.M. (Cool. I love that.) There was no hint of a competition. There was no such idea. Here was the idea: I had the great privilege to perform on Concord Square at the same time as Bruce. It's the coolest thought in my head right now and I hope the good feeling that it brings me will stick around for awhile. So-- After the show, I packed up my gear with the help of ultimate roadie, Bob Matson, and we hustled over to the Colonial Inn to catch Bruce's last set. We made it in time to hear him play his gorgeous all steel Dobro, which is always a special event. Eventually, an "Angel from Montgomery" duet seemed the right way to celebrate the night. We slowed it way down and Bruce mapped it out as we went along. (Night school...) Afterward, he looped the strap of his beautiful Martin guitar over my head, telling me about some condition or other that dictated I must play my song called "The Creeper" before I could leave the stage. (Detention?) I did, on the condition that he sang back-up. Bruce asked me to close the night with one more song and although that didn't seem right somehow, I did what the teacher asked. We pressed him for another Bruce Marshall song and the night ended as it should, with this guitargirl taking notes. Thanks to Loring and "K" and to Marianne, Beatrice and Henry for making the trip to Main Streets last night~ Thank you, Michelle~ Bruce, I might be at a loss for words for once.

- Ronda

Hey Bruce,

Yeah sign me up for the news letter! I've seen you perform at the Colonial Inn in Concord a couple times this summer and I loved your solos. I am up at school for the semester at Norwich University in Vermont and I stumbled upon your website yesterday. I had to get one of your CDs. Thanks again, can't wait to hear the disk.

- Anthony Capodilupo

Bruce,

Thanks so much to you, Michelle, and the band for a great show at our party on Aug. 25. As ususal you guys put on a hell of a good rockin time and we all enjoyed it! The thunderstorm was a bit hairy but thankfully it all worked out. I'm not sure if you knew that the State Police showed up with a noise complaint. It was just when you were near the end of your set and he said you sounded pretty good! We are already thinking of doing it again next year. Will let you know. Keep up the good work and great musicianship and we will see you around.

- Wade and Deb Walker

Hi Bruce,

I feel like I always begin my e-mails with this, but thanks yet again for providing such a safe and welcoming environment for an open mic -- I always walk out of there feeling better than when I walked in :) I loved all of the collaborations last night -- that's what it's all about!! Marty let me know that you were hoping to get more people to the Chicken Bone for your Saturday gig, and I wish I could attend, but Friday's the only option for me... but, I'm talking it up since it sounds like maybe you want people there for the hope of future gigs? I'll see if I can get you a few people :) See you tomorrow night -- looking forward to listening to you guys and relaxing!

- ~Britt

Bruce,

I've been telling everyone at in my rounds today about the experience I had making my way back from my annual trip to see the cornish fair horsepulling. With corncob in mouth going the back way to my car I came upon a blue electric fiddle dancing tight with guitars and great beat with no pretense only a swordful penetration to the soul. Thank you for genuine, generous sharing of your enormous talent. The open stage faced a wall of dirt and aged pines with spare humans to absorb your wit and art and wisdom; backed to a carnival and a world upside down, your giving was radiant and so real. I loved it. My only regret was the limits to dancing. I envied, but also marveled at, the couple behind the stage that swing-danced for a while, it made the real, surreal. I see, from your website the elevated level of your career. I am moved by your sincerity on stage. your music is guiless. Is that a word? It is the opposite of commercial. it is art. I listened to jack sheldon on the mary mcpartlin show on the way over to the fair, you are like jack. - you and the way the group works together. I will try to come to the york beach gig that you are doing in sept. Is there a place to dance there?

- patryc wiggins

Bruce,

Totally pro as always, my man. Thanks a bunch for kicking off the Biddeford Concert series in style, and count on a return engagement next summer. Also, a pleasure meeting Michelle...a very personable young lady. See you out there soon...

- m.r.

Bruce,

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement last night. You play with remarkably talented musicians, and one of the most renowned harp players in the business, and I really appreciate your allowing me to sit in when I stop by. It was great to see & hear you last night. While I truly enjoy the opportunity to sit it, I always come to hear your originals. Take care,

- Fred

Hi Bruce,

I received Kalispell today and it's WONDERFUL; I LOVE IT! Thought you'd like to know that you're a hit with my mom; she's going to be 90 this week and she likes the cd very much, especially your voice. I want to thank you again for singing "Rescue", I really appreciate the fact that you acknowledged my request. What a great evening I had; I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of your show. What makes you very unique from other performers is the passion you emit and that is what drew me to your music. I am very interested in ordering more of your CD's .... Any suggestions? I really enjoyed the songs you sang at the Grog , can you tell me which CD's they're from, the tracks aren't listed on the others so I have no idea. Thank you again and I'll see you at York Beach, Maine this Saturday. Have a great 4th of July.

Good morning Bruce,

Thanks so much for taking the time to pass on your thoughts. I find that when you get the opportunity to connect with people who are so successful at what they love, and with the things I love as well, that it's a great opportunity to listen and to learn. It's been a huge thrill for me to have met you, and to have had the opportunity to play with not only yourself, but the other great players at FireFly's. Playing music is something I've loved since I was a kid, and perhaps I love it even more than I did then. The thrill never fades, and I can't think of many other things which I enjoy as much. I definitely understand the thrill you mentioned below of a great performance - connecting with an audience at a live show, or vice versa, is truly a cool thing. Sometimes it's a bit hard to explain to people who listen to music in more of a passive sence. I'm always watching what everyone's playing, how they're playing it, etc., and I find that connecting to the live music makes a connection that the CD just can't quite get across. I think given my time comittments with family, and kids, etc., staying with the solo acoustic work is the way to go. I think putting together an acoustic set is something I could probably pull off, especially given the opportunity to keep playing each week at FireFly's. Early this year I kicked around the idea of getting 30 - 40 tunes down and to start looking for some local gigs. I definitely have some work to do to pull enough material together, (and enough confidence) to play a show solo. Oh, but what a thrill that would be! I think I'll get to work on it... So, have a great couple of weeks Bruce, and I'll catch you at FireFly's. Thanks again and take care.

- Bob

Good afternoon Bruce,

I hope things are well, and thanks again for an excellent jam last night at FireFly's. I'm finding that as soon as one Wednesday night is finished, I'm already looking forward to the next one. That's a good thing. I wanted to send a quick e-mail your way for a couple of reasons. First off, I wanted to say thanks so much for providing an opportunity for all of us non-professional, but aspiring musicians, to get together, play, and make contact with other excellent players. For those of us who love music, and who love to play, you've built a time & place where we're comfortable coming out, getting in front of the mike and can rip out some great music. I really enjoy your style of guitar, and lately you've inspired a huge interest in my own playing! So, I'm very appreciative of the energy you bring to your open mike nights. Secondly, I've been trying to think of some ways to get out and play more. I've played on and off for close to 30 years now, but I'm always looking for new ways to get better, stay inspired, and expand the music I play. I've played in bands over the years, although for the moment, the acoustic sets at the open mike have been a different and very cool direction for me. So, as you're the first professional musician I've had the pleasure to know, I was wondering if you have any thoughts and/or advice on how get more connected with other guitar players and/or bands in the area. Do you know of other open mike sessions which are close to the level of quality which yours is? Do you know of any bands in the area looking for a new guitar player, etc, etc. I've found the best way to make connections is to network with those that you know, so I thought I'd start with you (lucky you...). Anyway, I realize that your schedule is very busy, so please, no rush. If you happen to have any thoughts, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks Bruce, and I'll talk to you soon.

- Bob

Hey Bruce,

Great show and awesome last number (One Way Out) with the Guys. Meg and Alastair really enjoyed seeing you. Rock n Roll triva, Buffalo Springfield was named after the Buffalo-Sringfield Steamroller Company. The band saw a steamroller parked outside their apt and noticed the name on the side, liked it and promptly named the group, Buffalo Springfield. Now we know. Later, Rock On,

- David G.

Bruce,

The show was awesome. Thank you Ð Bruce ----- the staff really loved it. Great work, thanks for sharing your magic with us. Loved the closing with Melissa!

- Roger

Hey Bruce,

Thanks for putting me in last night ahead of time--that works well for me--It's getting busy-- who knows before you know it they will need to extend the hours again-- it has the potential to become the open mike to play at!--a very receptive crowd--great job!

- Marty

Bruce,

It was great to hear you guys Sat nite at the Bull. You just keep getting better and better!!! Forgot to ask you about my Babylon recording. Dare I?? sounds like the new CD is taking up a bit more of your time than you expected?? PS Sorry about sneaking out early!!

- Aggie

Bruce,

I am so happy for your success, although I am not surprised. I remember your originals: "Let Me Take You There", I still remember the words and i haven't heard it in over 25 years, truly a beautiful song. Did you ever record it? I do hope you remember me as you and Fever were the background music in my life for some time. It is good to know you've done well, you deserve it and IÊhope the others have done as well. In reading the list of places you have played I am surprised I have not seen you. I noticed you played with Jeffrey Gaines, I try to see him once a year as he renews my faith in the human spirit. I hope you find this as well. It is good to know people have heard you also. I hope to hear from you,

- Donna

Hey Bruce,

I just wanted to tell you how much I think the musicians at the open mic (including myself) look up to you musically. Also, the level of sincerity you put into making it special for everyone is really appreciated. "You tend your flock well!" Great time Wed!

- Marty

Hey, there,

You know, you're open mike just gets more fun. Thanks so much! I think the thing I needed most last night was just to hear you play. What is it about music that can just turn a person around? I don't know whether or not it's a unique thing that's happening over there at Firefly's in Framingham, but it sure feels like it!

- Ronda Matson

Hi Bruce and band members,

I heard you for the first time last Sunday at the Beach Fire in Ogunquit and I absolutely loved the show. You and James Montgmoery were great together, but I particularly enjoyed your solo stuff. I would appreciate it if you would send me your "Kalispell" CD

- John Sweeney

Hi Bruce and band members,

Thank you so much for making my birthday on Saturday, at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, the best I ever had! When you get up there in years, these kind of things become VERY important! You guys are a blast and some of the best musicians I have ever seen, and I have seen many all over the country! I am so glad I took a chance to see you.....my husband and I, and friends, are now fan's forever!! You Rock!

- Karen Brown

Hi, Bruce and Michelle,

It was great seeing both of you Saturday night. Had to drop you a note to say how nice the listening part was too. Love Steve....defintiely a keeper, as well as the new songs. "Misspent Youth" reminds me off some of John's stories........60s?....I don't remember the 60s. Dave was outta control, in a good way. Your sound just continues to improve year after year, gig after gig. Perfect volume, crystal clear sound and while the instruments are impeccably blended you can still pick each individual instrument out of the mix. What incredible musicians, each and every one amazes us every time. After all these years BMG is still our favorite!

- John & Pat

Hola,

The show last night was simply phenominal! Not only was I impressed it blew me away! Anyway, I was wondering if you could show me some of your tunes/licks some time for it is said that one improves the most by playing with those much better than oneself. Anyway thanks and I hope to see you soon.

- Alastair

Bruce,

Bruce Marshall's shining talent as an experienced guitarist, singer and songwriter is no secret in the music business. Trust me. If you see him play live, you'll be hooked! As host of the Firefly's Acoustic Blues Jam Open Mic series, he sets the standard for excellence.

- Ronda Matson

Bruce,

I just wanted to thank you for making our experience at Firefly's so great, and for saying those kind words about my singing. I am so glad you are hosting open mikes because it plays to so many of your strengths beyond your musical gifts. You are so generous and supportive to every person who gets up there and as a result, Firefly's is a tremendously warm and supportive place to take a risk, which is what we are all doing up there. You really make this a special open mike and I've been to a lot of them. We're hoping to do Firefly's once a month and hopefully start to learn some new material.

- Sal

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!,

For not being a blues band you had the competition's knees knocking-- out of sheer talent you proved that your band can compete in any genre. In my opinion I didn't agree with the format, but it was what it was. It seemed that you made some nice connections in Evan and friends--good for you! What a great experience for you and the band. Denise and I had a great time--disappointed for you, but ultimately a positive experience for all... thanks for the memories---

- Marty

Hello Bruce,

You guys were absolutely great at the Blues challenge last night. The band is truly inspirational and makes us (fellow musicians) realize how much work is necessary to perform at your level. One of the many positive things that came out of this challenge was the opportunity to meet fellow musicians like you, and the members of your band. It was also great meeting up with Dave again, after 30+ years. I look forward to seeing yourÊgroup again, see you at the open mic at Firefly's, and perhaps share a bill at some point. Again, you guys were great.

- Tony, Wood Bros. Band

Bruce and all band members,

Congratulations and kudos to you all for a terrific win last Saturday night. We're planning on joining you again at FI on November 4th! See you then for another win!

- Rick Thurstone & Leslie Greene

Hey Bruce,

I LOVE your CD. It is awesome. I played it for my husband too. He is a great fan!Ê He is hard to please as he is a musician too; so if he likes it, you are terrific. Thanks for making my commute to work enjoyable!

- Lizanne

Hey Bruce,

You guys ripped it up at the Tunbridge Fair! Great job! Hope you had a good time.

- Scott Beavers

Hi bruce marshall,

- your friend lisa foytho

Hi Bruce,

My husband and I were given tickets to see Julie Roberts at the Northern Maine Fair in Presque Isle on August 5th. Actually, my husband was one of the local guys who helped set up and tear down the concert equipment. We are not country music fans, generally, but I decided to go meet my husband at the fair, and go to the concert, anyhow. We were blown away by the"opening" act - you guys, of course! We had never heard of the Bruce Marshall Group, but after the first song we were hooked on your sound and your stage presence. How entertaining and fun you all were. We have enjoyed the CD I purchased at the concert, and especially love the song Kalispell (what a neat word that is). We would love to bike around the country, and see new areas - it sounded like a perfect scenario to us. Hope to see you again ASAP. We expect to hear you on the airwaves soon! I can't imagine why we haven't already.

- Art and Charlotte Griffin

Dear Bruce,

It was so nice to see and listen to your music after all of these years. Your music is what I remember it to be...passionate and full of heart. James Montgomery wasn't, too bad either. I don't believe I've ever seen him perform before. He was great! That type of environment (Colonial Inn) was perfect. I'll try to catch another show soon,

- Brenda

Hey Bruce,

It was nice to see you and Michelle at the Colonial Inn on Tuesday. You and James Montgomery sounded EXCELLENT! What a tight duo. The fact that there are two of you really lets you both cut loose while the other holds down the beat. That was some of the best guitar I've seen you play in a while Bruce. Wow, you are good!

- Jim Vann

Bruce & Michelle,

What a fantastic job on the new web site. I love it!!! The color scheme is fantastic, the photos are great and the links to different pages are very intuitive.

- Elaine LeRiche

Hi Bruce,

My brother Pete's been telling me about you, and dragged me to the show Friday. He introduced me to you for a few seconds before your first set. I think I mentioned to you that I haven't been out to a club for live music in ages.. well let's just say that your show cured me of that. I was completely blown away, you and the band are terrific. Virtuoso musicianship, great songs, and a good vibe. I'll definitely be getting out to catch you guys again!

- Paul Johnson

Hello Bruce,

I have always found your groups playing ability to extremely impressive and recall a show at the Newport Opera house where you and Dave did a 2 man acoustic set, followed by KD Bell. That was one of the best musical evenings I ever experienced. That includes CSN &Y, John Mayall and the Blues Breakers, Bonnie Raitt, Aerosmith, The Stones, The Who and many many more.

- Gary Budd

CONGRATULATIONS BRUCE

WE ARE VERY HAPPY FOR YOU AND YOUR BAND. WE ARE PROUD OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND WE SUPPORT YOU ALL THE WAY. YOU ARE MAKING YOUR MARK IN THIS WORLD THE MOST DIFFICULT WAY I CAN IMAGINE. MUSICIANS DO IT THE HARD WAY AND THE COMPETITION IS GREATER FOR THEM THAN ANY OTHER FIELD I CAN IMAGINE. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU EVER MAKE A VIDEO ON A DVD DISC. I WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND HEAR ONE OF YOUR PERFORMANCES. KEEP US IN MIND. I WILL SEND YOU THE MONEY TO COVER ALL COSTS FOR SENDING US A DVD DISC. YOUR LOYAL FANS,

-AUNT LORRAINE & UNCLE BOB

Hi, Bruce,

Sorry I had to leave early Sat night at the Trestle. If the incineration level of energy in the 1st set was a precursor of what was to come, it obviously was my loss by leaving...haha...you guys were tighter than a termite's ass (and that's pretty frickin tight) ......your CD is great and I thankfully submit that your faster tunes/geeta-work have inspired me to write more energetic, guitar-oriented tunes for our next CD....I hope you appreciate the more reflective nature of our most recent CD... Your new drummer seems right on target.....just remind him that Union Standards dictate two months of performatory observation before receiving monetary compensation....hehehe

- Best to you all, Steve Branch

Hi, Bruce,

It was such a delight seeing you and Michelle last night. It was gracious of you to come all the way up hereÊfor the benefit and an honor to share our music with you. Your site looks superb and offers so much interesting information. I look forward to seeing you soon at the Trestle.

- Best Regards, Steve Branch

Hi, Bruce,

In case I've never mentioned it, Lorraine and I REALLY enjoy your music. The band is terrific, your singing is excellent and - most importantly to us - the melodies are really strong and the lyrics very meaningful/poetic/clever/fun/stirring. I can only imagine how hard it is for you to never waiver in a business that is without mercy. You are a man possessed - possessed by music. I would love to manage you - you are a great talent. But I know nothing about the business and I am totally out of touch with current tastes, trends, fads and fashions. Most of what I hear on the airwaves (Britney, Michael Jackson, rap, etc.) only convinces me that good music is a much under-appreciated article. Your songs are wonderful!! When my company hits the market in a very few years, I'll become a patron of the arts. You'll never have to worry about money again. Just hang in there a while longer. "If Dreams Were Money."

- Richard

Hi Bruce,

We really enjoyed meeting you Saturday night. Besides having a great group, you are quite a nice guy. It was great dancing material. I liked the contrast you achieved by switching between acoustic, electric, and the Dobro (which had a great sound). Thanks so much for your graciousness in letting me sit in. It was a blast. I heard your bassist broke a string during the third set. I’m sure glad it did not happen while I was playing! Hey, I haven’t been gigging since last August, when I left Prof. Harp. Please mention my name if you hear of any opportunities arising. We look forward to hearing you again. I’d love to hear you with James.

Kind regards,

- John Schulman

Hey Bruce,

Sue Sanderson here. Wanted to drop you a note and say that Saturday's opener for the acoustic unplugged was terrific. It was the first time I caught you and James together. Loved the set list. I'm partial to the Dobro sound...killer "Come in my Kitchen." I know the friend I was with enjoyed that one. He's the "Tour Mystic" for the Peacheaters. We got labeled traders from the Peach guy's for blowing off their gig to catch yours. LOL! They're just jealous, they know they are loved. Think this could be something good, don't you? I told Vern they should get more speakers for certain areas so the sound is all around. And what about you and Dave getting something booked? That would be great. Take care and I'll catch up with you at the next gig.

- Sue

Hi Bruce,

Ever since we saw you at Fryeburg I have fallen in love with that voice of yours all over again! I would like to know why you are not on the air waves, what's going on? Your music, the band and your voice should be shared to everyone.

- Mary

Hey Bruce... thanks!

I really enjoyed hearing you, I felt like I was totally fumbling around on that guitar of yours, funny how different it is playing someone else's instrument... but you totally inspired me with your slide playing and how you used the tunings for so many different songs ... really great. I'm glad my husband and sister joined me, although I was planning on making the trip out either way.. but it's always nice to have the company... your girlfriend Michelle is lovely too, and I just feel like I've known her for a hundred years... see you soon, would love to see you at our gig this week if you have the time and energy ... otherwise, we'll catch up soon!

- Julie Dougherty

Hey Bruce,

I wanted to let you know you sounded great on Tuesday at the colonial. And it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to play with you! Hope your trip up north went well. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks again.

- Bill Cummings

Hi Bruce,

As you know, we all had a great time in Maynard seeing you again! How fun. How did you ever keep your voice? I put your CD on in my car and my brother (after a few minutes) asked if that is the same guy I used to go listen to. Whatever you did, you sound fantastic--and your music, awesome -still! Rick and I plan on going to the Colonial Inn to catch a solo act and we will absolutely see the band again. What is the difference between BMG and BMD? You asked for a review. The only thing I might have done different was to incorporate some more well known tunes in the last set, that is when the crowd dispersed and lost interest. Maybe put some of the new songs in the early evening so people and hear them. Maybe I have the sets mixed up but I hope you get my message. I know the reason why, it was just a shame that they weren't heard because at that time of the night people have no attention span...... gee, wonder why. Look forward to listening again.

- Mary from L.S.

Hey Bruce,

You and the boys were truly tremendous last night. Each of the musicians you've assembled are remarkable in their own right. Thanks for the offer to join you - I don't think I'm in their (your) league just yet.
Take care,

- Fred

Bruce,

You always give so much to your fans. Both James' & your performances were fabulous at Mast Cove recently. I think your new song Slave which you wrote & performed was absolutely a genius composition. I can't wait until you put it out on cd. I appreciate your talent & generous spirit. Blessings to you and Michelle this holiday season & always.

- Jan L.

Hi Bruce,

I really enjoyed your performance at the Ioka Theater. I never really known of your music but after watching you and the band perform I became a big fan so much so I bought 3 cds at the show, and listen to them over and over. I hope you come back to Exeter soon.

- Mike C.

Hi Bruce!

Just wanted to thank you again for the heads-up on the Clue show/reunion – it was a blast! It was great seeing everyone and the Clue sounded as good as ever – I told Tommy you could pick up right where you left off, never knowing you hadn’t played together in years. Amazing. You should think about incorporating the old songs into current shows – they stood the test of time and sound terrific (and now you know you remember all the words). J I was thrilled to see John, Artie & Johanna – it’s been a long time since I’ve seen them and they haven’t changed one bit. Thanks again & I look forward to seeing/hearing you soon.
Take care,

- Michelle

Kalispell is an Awesome CD!!!

You will not be disappointed with Kalispell...this CD is awesome!!! Having recently met Bruce and Michelle my first introduction to his music was via the Kalispell CD.....and now I find myself here online searching for more music by BMG.

- Dave Baker Rating: 10

Hi Bruce,

This is Dan Garbett, Rich Goodkin's brother-in-law, who shared brownies with you and the gang last night after the show with my sister Lorraine Goodkin and my girlfriend Helen. Again, just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed the 2 sets. Great music, and sound as always, and your guitar work was probably the best I've seen it (and that's coming from someone who's played piano and keyboard for sometime, so I can really appreciate the talent in the band.) Too bad we didn't buy a bark-o-lounger or futon while at the furniture store for the band to sign!! My sister Lorraine especially enjoyed the impromptu personal concert of Bruce/Ricky Nelson after the show. Really nice job on that tune. I could tell Lorraine wishes you would incorporate more of that and possibly even some good 50's & 60's songs in the sets as a few covers. Hope to catch you guys again soon-with brownies in hand! You passed the audition! Again, great job,
Take care

- Dan

Bruce,

Love of the Ride is a great record, it has a crystalline quality and cleanliness to it; it is pure, yet organic. It need not be over-produced to be full. Not many people can get away with this, much less flourish in it. Clapton and Knofler can't but Robert Cray, Stevie Ray and Tower of Power can.

More people need to hear you. The guitar, drums and horns in the beginning of "Don't Pour Water" lifts the listener from his crowded confines and places him in a gym. It is exciting, visual, honest and most importantly, it's clean. It is an indicator of what's to come. "Sorrow's My Mistress" is my favorite cut on the disc. It sounds like your individual message expressed in a classic blues format. The medium is generic, but the words and feel are yours. It doesn't sound like anybody other than you. What I want to know is where a boy from Pokononoket Ave. ever encountered that kind of pain. Rowdy yet civilized, "Angeline" reminds us of a woman that we all know. "Human Race" is who she will become if she is very lucky. "Real Lovin'" makes the listener move. "Snakeskin Boots" should be a movie soundtrack. It's excitement puts the listener's feet in snakeskin and makes him feel as though he is being chased. I envision Eddie Murphy sprinting down rodeo Drive with some crazed guy and a guitar in hot pursuit. "If Dreams Were Money" stands in graphic illustration of the fact that we can never hide who we are. "Never Talk to Strangers" is very interesting in it's use of vocal percussion. I'll bet that it would be commercially successful were a younger crowd to hear it often enough. The breezy feel of "Black and White" is refreshing. "Say Goodbye" leaves no ambiguity as to your feelings for Jack MacKinnon. I am impressed with this album and I think that your degree of success will be determined by the sheer numbers who get to see, and become familiar with your music. I can imagine that the visual and metabolic intensity of all those guitars, horns, and keys moving in unison is contagious in a big room full of people. Thanks for the chance to review the disc and I especially liked watching someone who is passionate about his work. I hope to see you again soon.

Bruce,

You guys were so very good tonight!!! Wonderful music, both sets. Dave is a great guitarist, but don't sell yourself short

- you play stronger melodies. And John is one of the most accomplished musicians on the planet. Lorraine was most honored at the private Ricky Nelson concert after the second set. I'm sorry I missed it. Hang on a few more years. I'm working on something that I believe will create tremendous wealth for us. When it happens, I'll be endowing a charitable foundation to support the arts and great musicians

- like the BMG. 'If Dreams Were Money'

- well, maybe they will be.
Best wishes,

- Richard

Hi Bruce and band,

Loved your show at Tupelo Hall 8/27/2005. You guys mixed it up well, loved your acoustic at the beginning of the show-WOW. Sorry you and the guys couldn't make the cookout at Mr. Nicks on Sunday, good food and drink! Look forward to seeing the band again, please come back to Tupelo.
Truly,

- John W.

Bruce,

Great show at Tupelo Hall last night.

- dave & kathy canedy - auburn nh

Hey Bruce,

Just a quick thank you for joining us at the first Kennebunkport Blues Festival. You were awesome and I am so glad you could be with us for the fun event. Everyone had a great time and I think, based on the feedback, that it was a homerun!!! It was great to see you and thanks again! There will be another Blues Festival here in Kennebunk next year.......

Bruce,

Unbelievable Show....... I have seen you many times, in four states, over the last year or so but Saturday night was the "best damn show" I have ever seen by any band. I don't know if it was you guys feeding off the crowd, the crowd off you guys or a combination of the two but it was worth sitting on the deck at IOB listening or watching you guys perform so well together as we danced the night away. Cath and I enjoyed the outdoor music season at the various beaches of Maine and New Hampshire but now that we are back to indoor clubs and dark, dingy dance floors, it is great to know that we will have many nights of BMG at the Grog to look forward to. Thanks for a great night in York!!!!!!

Hello Bruce!

I just wanted to drop a note to let you know how much I enjoyed meeting you at the NASWA last weekend! I always meet the best people through Cynthia and Greg!

I have been listening to your CD non-stop and remain spellbound by your rendition of This Ol' Cowboy. Since the first time I ever heard that song, the killer lyrics and that catchy guitar riff just mesmerize me--and NO ONE ever plays that song but you! I really enjoyed your solo performance, but your band was phenomenal together! I hope someday we can work something out to get you to South Florida for some winter work! There are some good venues here and I'm happy to pass on the good word on your talent!

- Marilyn Demartini

Hi, Bruce!

I was just checking out your website (which is great, I might add), upcoming gigs & the fan reviews – I’m so thrilled for you! All the reviews were terrific & I’m pissed I’ve missed so many fabulous shows. That will have to change! Hey, any chance you’ll be opening for Chicago again? My friend, Jim, said they’d be in the area (not sure where) and, that if you opening, he’d definitely get us tickets. In the mean time, I hope to make it to a few local shows very soon. Keep up the excellent work – I so happy that you never gave up on your music dream & that more & more people realize just how amazing you are. I’m proud to have known you "in the beginning" (you know how much I love those "old originals").
Take care & I’ll be seeing you soon.

- Michelle

Hello,

I saw your solo act at Hampton last summer. What a great sound you have. If you ever have a need for a piano/organ player., please let me know.
Thanks.

- Keith Milka

Bruce,

It was another great show at Dante's Saturday Night ! You guys have way too much fun. That was the first time I've heard you do "Little Wing". Just incredible.

Thanks again for the CDs. Hope to see you in Maine this summer.

- Maureen

Hi Bruce and band,

Saw your show at Tupelo Friday April 22, 2005. What can I say, it was fantastic. I've seen the band four times and you sounded the best at Tupelo. Please come back and play Tupelo again, what a great place to see a show.
Thanks.

- Your fans from Methuen.(Word of mouth).

Hey Bruce,

I got your cd in the mail. I've been listening to it, and its really good. I love the kalispell one. I hope all is well.
see you soon,

- Loren

Bruce,

A colleague of mine was in Mass a month or so ago and was talking about this great band that they had seen. When he said the name I nearly fell out of my chair. I just had to go to the web site and see for myself. I have been listening to some of the new songs and they are beautiful.

Your music has only gotten better. I'll never forget the first time I heard "If dreams were money", sitting in a little bar in Vermont called the four legged duck. I bought that CD that night and its pretty beat up, but I still have it and that song still brings tears to my eyes. I'm not surprised it won an award. I'm happy to see that you and the band are still going strong and making such great music.
An old fan.

- Lori

Dear Bruce,

Lisa and I wanted to thank you so much for making our wedding day on Sept. 20th even more special with you playing for us. Not only did the day go great but your playing was one of our most memorable times of our wedding. Were glad you were able to go acoustic in the house when the mosquitos started to feed on us all. More important I'm glad you were able to tame my loud obnoxious brothers so everyone else could hear your wonderful voice. Everyone we have talked to since the wedding has commented on had you took our wedding to a different level.

Lisa and I look forward to seeing you play solo and with your band in the next few weeks. The craziness of our wedding is over and we look forward to relaxing and listening to some music.

Hey Bruce!

Allison and I want to thank you, Michelle and the band (and Jackie!) for an absolutely fabulous evening last Saturday! You guys had the place rockin' when we first arrived (just 9 PM and standing room only!!) and took everyone on one of your patented "BMG rock and roll rides to remember" all the way to closing!! Wow!! Although memory of events gets a little fuzzy beyond the middle of the second set, we do recall the floor of the Inn bouncing underneath us as we danced in a crush of dancing bodies while Jackie and her crew danced up a storm ON the BAR!!! I can't remember EVER being immersed in a more enthusiastic, engaged or appreciative crowd! Was anyone NOT dancing???

Thanks also for the second Kalispell disk, we may need another though..... Let's see... one for Allison's car, one for my car, one for the house, one for the office, hmmmm.....think it's possible to install a CD player on my bike???

- Ron

Bruce,

I had the honor of seeing you perform in York Me. What a show! I especially enjoyed kalispell . I would love to know when you wrote the song and about your visit there. I love Montana and have been there a couple of times. Best of luck to you .

- Jen

Hi Bruce,

I have been meaning to email for some time now about the Sneak Preview II CD I got when we were up in Bridgton. First let me say that I LOVE Flying Low (is there a mandolin part?? I am pathetic but am taking classes) and Haunts Me. Somehow hearing those songs over and over again in my Saab, make them even more memorable and enjoyable to me, especially after hearing you play them at the Sit n Bull. Awesome, awesome, awesome!! (I still absolutely love Babylon of course)

Bruce,

I’M DROPPIN YOU AND JAMES A LINE IN GRATITUDE FOR SHARIN SOME CHOPS WITH ME AT THE MASTCOVE. I HOPE TO EXPERIENCE THE HIGH LEVEL OF YOUR PLAYIN AGAIN!! I LOVE WAT YOU DO. THANK YOU FOR LETTIN ME SIT IN.

- LEN INKEL

Bruce,

I have to tell you, I have not been able to give you a review of Kalispell because every time I listen to it my favorite song changes. I think that any particular day that I listen to it, whatever is going on in my life makes me enjoy one song over another on that day. I give your other CD's equal play, you know! I had forgotten that I replaced the copy of Love of the Ride after I gave my friends my copy, so I really have 3 of yours CDs. My friends have moved to Florida and I KNOW they are enjoying, and hopefully sharing, your music there. They started out moving to the Cape in July, and were planning to go catch you playing somewhere, but did not last the winter and ended up moving to Florida. I cannot tell you how crazy they were about Love of the Ride, and they consider themselves experts in music!

Bruce Marshall and James Montgomery were fantastic. I saw them at Eleanor Slater Hospital where I work . I'm sure the patients enjoyed them also. It was kind of them to come and I would like to thank them for it. The next time I see them (hopefully in the near future) I want front row seats.

Bruce and Michele:

Hi guys, Really wicked way awesome time, New Years, we are still talking about it... Thanks for the T-shirt and the cd, as well as signing my rock'n roll patrol jacket on saturday. Barb, really enjoyed getting up with you all on stage!

- Phil Roy Bow, NH

Bruce,

Thought you might like to know that 'Mix 96' started airing Kalispell yesterday. I was in the backcountry doing a little trout fishing but Tracey heard the song several times. People started calling in .... some didn't want it played too much since it might draw people to the area but most liked the song and the DJ liked it quite well because he played it quite a few times. Will be interesting to see if some of the other stations start playing the tune now ...

Bruce, et al:

I just saw you guys at the Sit-N-Bull Saturday night and it was awesome...as always ! I was particularly happy to hear "Unchain My Heart", one of my favorites. And, putting Dave on the spot to improvise guitar legends was just amazing. He was dead on. Thank you for signing the 4th CD, I have them all now and eagerly awaiting the next. In the meantime, I'll continue to catch as many gigs in MA and ME as I can.

- Maureen Wynn (Mo)

Hi Bruce,

Great seeing you again. Thanks for the cd. I really enjoyed the songs, the performance and your production. I hope this gets you to what we all are striving for in the music business. THE NEXT LEVEL. Let me know if you get up this way again and I'll try and see you if I'm not working.
Cheers and all best wishes.

- Bob Rutherford

Hi Bruce

So glad you were able to come to OverFlo's and do a set. Great to see you and Michelle and you sounded great. Liked your songs a great deal. Without a band, your songs still make a stand and the body just has to move. Very nice lyrics and stories. Looking forward to working together again. Keep in touch.

- Lisa

Hey Bruce,

Thanks a million for the CD to review. It's done and I've posted it at my tuckerhead site. I'll also post a message on the MTB message board. You sure should be proud of this CD

- it is spectacular. And I know Toy would be proud of your cover of "This Ol Cowboy". How did you capture that tone?

Bruce,

A friend of mine recently saw you at a friends birthday party in Leominster, Ma. He was so impressed he ran out and bought your new album, Kalispell. We went away to his beach house in Maine recently and we listened to your album all weekend. We were a group of 8 people of all former college room mates. Kalispell turned out to be the weekend theme album! I am purchasing your album for each couple this Christmas to accompany photos.

Hi Bruce and band,

Haven't seen you lately,(been busy) but will be certaainly be looking forward to catching the band asap. I'll never forget the first night that I saw BMG at the Grog. LOL.!! Do you remember being asked by some woman to play something by "Jimmy Buffet"? Your response puts a smile on my face everytime I think about it. Anyway, keep rocking my friend and I'm glad to see that things are going well for BMG.. Never stop playing "un-chain my heart", OK? You are truly a class act and a genuine "nice" guy.
See you around the circuit soon I hope,

- Ben Harvey

Bruce,

Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you..Thank you again for making our reunion so great. I've had so many compliments on having your band play! It was great to see you as always and I'm so glad your life is going so well! We're back in snowy Utah and getting ready for the holidays..thanks again for making our reunion so special.. Hope you have wonderful holidays.
Kindest regards,

- Margaret.

Dear Bruce,

Our family met you at Tenney Mountain last Feb. You gave an Excellent performance. I approached you and asked what CD would you recommend if we liked what you had played that performance. You recommended Kalispell. So glad you did... I swear we have played that album at least 50 times. I can't even begin to tell you what a superb set of music it is. Kalispell is BRILLIANT! I hitchhiked across Wyoming and Colorado in 1980 when I was 18. I know exactly you are talking about, re: BIG sky / God's country. Rescue, Cold April Rain and every damn song on that album is worthy of repeat play. Thanks so much for giving your all when performing such quality songs from the heart. You are one of a kind and we wish you all the success you deserve. Sincerely,

- Jeff, Kathy, Kevin and Kelly Sorrell

Bruce,

I'm really proud to be associated with this one. It felt great right from the start. I'll say it again, "This will be the one that goes down in BM history!" It's great stuff. Excellent material. Awesome performances. You're a terrific artist!

-Bill

Bruce,

Dave is certainly an unsung virtuoso. I'm really glad for the opportunity to watch him in action. When he's in his "experimental" frame of mind he absolutely blows me away. Warren Haynes - move over - Aveday is on the loose. :-)

- Matt Lindi, promoter

Hi Bruce,

Just listened to your new CD and I think it's great. Your song writing is excellent and I love your version of Can I Change My Mind. After all these years you are the ultimate polished pro. You should be proud of your accomplishments. I was just telling Lori the story about Andy Bender and myself going to Kennedy's Department Store to convince you that starting a band would be a lot more fun than selling women's shoes. I think it was the end of 1973. Thanks for the Whitecap C.D. Wow, what memories. Hope we can hook up sometime in the future.
Best regards,

- Doug Manzelli

Bruce,

Wow, saw you last night Bruce at the Casino when you opened for Boz Scaggs. You are one hell of a performer, can wait to see you in Methuen. I'm going to your show, love your music. I've heard about you, but never really got to see you at the Grog. I know a friend of yours Pam, and she was right, you're GREAT!
Good luck!

- Jan

Hi Bruce -

You and your band sounded great at Paul's - I appreciate that you let me get up and do a few tunes . .You're one of the guys that I remember all along the way from way back - I remember the Cricket - did you know Jim Bougeois? It's great to see you're still working a lot . . I still love to do it. I might start getting a bit more active.
Good luck and keep in touch,

- Charlie Farren

Bruce,

It was a pleasure to meet you & Alan Saturday night, many thanks for the "Happy Birthday" to Steve. Your Kalispell CD is absolutely wonderful! Steve hasn't had a chance to hear it all but I brought it to work. Kalispell is by far my favorite. I'm not much of a music critic afraid I'm tend to be cut & dry either I like or I don't, and this I thoroughly love, it's all original and not a bad song to be found! Had a great time at your show with Alan & the Alligators & am looking forward to seeing BMG.

- Debbie

Bruce,

Thank God for sunglasses! We had tears in our eyes listening to you and the band on Sunday. You are enormously talented - what a pleasure. You are a "lucky guy" to have such great musicians with you, but I was blown away by the guitar work from both you and Dave. You made my weekend. I loved the enthusiastic show, the fun, the appreciation for your band mates, and the creativity in your original pieces. We bought the Kalispell CD and have recommended it to several friends already. The billing I read, "Southern Rock," does not do justice to the wide range of sounds you guys craft. Thanks for a great show. Keep going and don't forget the little places where you have made so many friends.

- Frank

Hi Bruce,

Can't tell you how much we enjoyed the show Saturday night! We left a wedding a little early so we wouldn't miss a beat! You have such an amazingly strong and beautiful voice, not to mention superb guitar work, and what a talented group of musicians! I personally love the sax and fiddle playing of John Donahoe. John and I are always checking your gig schedule and are thrilled when we can catch a performance! So glad we found you a few years back. Looking forward to Wednesday in Kennebunk with James Montgomery. I hope you and Michelle are taking advantage of this splendid day!
Best regards,

- Cindy Farley

Bruce,

Thanks for a great warm up last evening. You won over many new fans. Enjoyed the show.

- Peter J Stroup, PE, PMP

Bruce & band members,

Just a quick note to tell you that I come to see you play whenever I am able, usually at the Grog because I live in Newburyport. You always give an incredible performance with great energy as if you're playing a much larger venue. That you continue to perform at the Grog with such enthusiasm is a tribute to your professionalism and spirit. I happened to have wandered in there, not knowing you would be there last Saturday, and was thrilled to find you, sit back, listen to great music and, of course, watch Bruce's wonderful stage presence.
An inconsistent but devoted fan,

- Bonnie

Hi Bruce,

Just wanted to thank you for the performances turned in by yourself & Al Goodrich at our "60's party" last Saturday...you guys were really great! This neighborhood has seen some great parties over the years, but with the help of you two, I think we set the bar a little higher!
Best Regards,

- Steve

Bruce,

Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your show at "The Grog" Saturday night! Again, thanks for the little tribute to Ray Charles with "Unchain My Heart". That was awsome! Keep up the great work and we'll see you again soon!
Kudos,

- Jodie and Ben

Now David C., thats a great story. You have soooooo much to offer that you have attained over the years. It would have been nice to have all of those who knew you before see what you have "really" accomplished.

Bruce,

I honestly feel that you should be really proud of your accomplishments. Every-time I hear you lately I have such a tremendous feeling of personal satisfaction and pride from just having had the privilege of being a small part of your professional development. Your doing great...Good luck with the Doobie Bros. One of my favorite bands.
Hope all is well,

- Wayne

Bruce,

I was at the Sit n Bull Pub on Saturday night--Excellent concert!!! My first time seeing the band and definitely not my last! I even got a CD which I have been listening to non-stop. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

- Martha Kovner

Dear Bruce and Group

Just wanted to drop a note and let you know how thrilled we were to have you play at our wedding. You played great, as always and made our day so special. It meant so much to us to have our favorite band there. Everyone loved your music and you definitely gained some new fans!
Thank you for an awesome job!

- Bob and Connie Casey

Dear Bruce,

I didn't get a chance to talk to you after your gig in westborough the other night, but i wanted to let you know that i thought your playing was truly amazing. really slammin. of course, i'm always (and eternally) partial to the dobro, so it goes without saying that whenever you lean heavily on that sweetie, i'm intoxicated. but beyond that, it was such a pleasure to hear you and dave in an acoustic setting where the guitars and musicianship come to the fore in a less mediated way than with the whole band. don't get me wrong, i loves da band, but i think you know what i mean. natch, dave got his ego stroked also. he's really developed some nice licks and some of his passages were quite beautiful and originalS anyway, i hope it won't be so long between gigs for me. it had really been sometime since i had last listened in. again, bravo, bravo. hello to michelle. how's does her garden grow?
sending fond thoughts to both of you,

- jennifer

Friday night, BRUCE MARSHALL and DAVE COURNOYER played until their fingers were shredded - including a great impression of Jimi Hendrix playing "Happy Birthday". Bruce and Dave will be back every month throughout the summer.

- Mulligans Tavern on the green newsletter

Hello Bruce,

I received Kalispell in the mail today. It only took 12 days. I want to thank you for getting it to me so quick. I have to say that it is some of the best music that I have heard in awhile. Every song on this cd is excellent. I was playing it and the girl downstairs from me heard it and came to me and asked me what it was that I was playing. Short story is we had a beer and I introduced her to you and she loved it too.. it's time to explore the rest of your music. Thanks for the great tunes. Keep em coming.
Sincerely

,

- Gary L Hill

Hi Bruce,

I stumbled on your CD on the Internet one day while searching for a song. It was one of those things when you wake up and there is a song stuck in your head. In this case it was "This O'l Cowboy". I searched the Internet and found your web site. I loved your rendition. Then I listened to the rest of the CD.

I am a musician myself and have played since I was a little boy and come from a family of musicians. I always had a knack for picking songs. I would pick a tune at the bottom of the charts and before long, it was in the top ten or many times number one. When I heard your CD, I said, this sound is a perfect commercial sound. It is a sound that can go. A sound that people like to listen to over and over again.

Hi Bruce,

Was at the Bryan Adams concert with my wife and 2 girls last night. You did a great job. Congrats. Checked you website and saw you'd be at the John Stones Inn in April. I'll be bringing a group there to see you. Will get your album tomorrow.
Best of luck,

- Steve

Hi Bruce,

I saw you perform solo at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence last night (3/13/04), opening for Bryan Adams. I'm embarrassed to say that I was unaware of you before then, but wow ... what a treat!! Your vocals, your guitar prowess ... original material and blues classics ... all great stuff! I really enjoyed the show and I'm looking forward to seeing you again!

-Jim

Hi Bruce,

Lorraine, Dan and I very much enjoyed your opener for Bryan Adams in Providence Sat night. You made an awful lot of excellent music for one guy with an acoustic guitar! Will see you, hopefully, April 17 at John Stone.
> Best regards,

- Richard Goodkin

Hi, Bruce & Co.,

Every time we hear BMG we don't think they could ever sound better, but the next time we hear the group we're always pleasantly surprised!
Still our favorite,

- John & Pat Hamel

Bruce,

My husband and I had the opportunity to see you all for our first time this past weekend, during a little getaway in Portland, ME. We LOVED every minute of every song you and the group performed. I insisted we pick up the new CD and had the entire group autograph it for me. It will definitely be treasured. My children are now enjoying all of the songs

- even my 13 yo daughter... Thanks for taking us away on your musical journey this past weekend.

- Michelle and Bob

Hi Bruce,

Some friends transplanted from South Africa and I randomly decided to listen to some music last Friday night in Maynard. I'd heard a few good groups there before and the price of admission is not that big a deal so we figured why not. How bad could it be? We'd only walked out on one performance in the past. Well, from the moment you got on the stage we were mesmerized by your sound. Now I feel cheated by not knowing who you were all this time. You are a local treasure !! I melted when you sang Babylon, and even though it is not on the Kalispell CD, I had to have your sound in my collection. I have been playing the CD nonstop since then and by the time I see the Group again, I'll be able to sing the words along with you (quietly). We all left the pub smiling from the wonderful feeling your music gave us. I think what made it really special, at least for me, was to not only hear wonderful music, but to actually see how much you really enjoyed playing it!!

Ps my personal favorite is Can I Change My Mind, but I seem to be the only one commenting on the CD that feels that way. It must have hit a chord for me!! Are your other CDs even half as good???

- Aggie

Hey Bruce,

Just wanted to say you guys were awesome new years eve. Every time I tell people that the last time I saw you was the best, you make a liar out of me. As you can see from this attached e-mail, the buzz is picking up. We will see you at Brays in a couple of weeks.

- John

Hi Bruce,

Just wanted to say again how much we enjoyed your show on Saturday night at Brays Brew Pub in Naples. Last year, the first time we saw you perform, was in Hampton opening for the legend, BB King. What a GREAT performance by you and James Montgomery there. We were blown away then only to be very pleasantly surprised again to see you open for Dan Fogelberg down in Wallingford, CT, at the Oakdale theatre just a few months later. Dan has been a favorite of ours for many, many years. Thank you SO MUCH for playing "Morning Sky." That one goes way back, but so do we!! It was so enjoyable seeing you at Brays, giving us a chance to meet and talk with you. We are very impressed with your music and look forward to playing "over and over" you new CD. We will see you in our hometown on October 18 and very much look forward to that!!

- John & Cindy Farley

Bruce,

Your cd is freakin awesome... Look for a review in the upcoming issue!! Wow. What great and infectious melodies. And what a tasty rendition of THIS OL COWBOY.
Best,

Hi Bruce & Band ~

My husband and I saw you for the first time two summers ago (or was it last summer?) at Horse Feathers in North Conway, NH and we were blown away. Luckily we bought your CD Love of the Ride that night, and we have listened to it so many times since it's almost worn out. We take it everywhere with us, especially on camping trips. Although we are both native New Englanders (Maine & Mass.) we live out here in Minnesota now. We are coming to Mass. & NH at the end of Sept. and we are going to try very hard to see you on 10/2 in Westboro, MA. It will be a thrill for us as we have SO enjoyed your music

- my favorite song is Angeline, but they're all great. I'm ordering your latest CD now. Thanks for all your hard work making such enjoyable music and putting on a great show.

- Deb & Dave Pehrson

Bruce,

Great album !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Kalispell, MT and enjoy listening too all of the songs on the album, Kalispell. Unfortunately, only a handful of us out here in 'God's Country' know about the album. Today, I notified a number of radio stations requesting that they start playing your music, specifically Kalispell. Good luck with the album.

- LWS Kalispell, MT

Bruce,

The new CD is a winner, and I'm honored to have been able to play on a few of the tracks. Unfortunately for me, my favorite tunes are the ones on which I didn't get to participate: Dance Hall Sweat and Cheap Perfume is a great song, and really evokes the memories of the old days when we were young and reckless and the venues were rickety with seeped-in character. And I love Last Call & First Light, great way to kick off the CD. Can't Cheat Fate was always one of my favorites when we played it live, and I was kind of bummed at first that it was re-recorded, losing my mandolin tracks, but the new version grows on you. I'm also glad that you decided to include House Lo Mein, which is still a pleasure after all this time; amazing that it came out so well, considering the fact that it was recorded live, no overdubs, no chance for second takes or mistakes. Do people still record that way? (Also, I'll admit that it was the best keyboard solo I ever played, I'm just glad that an admittedly journeyman-level player like myself actually has one solo that I'm proud of on tape...) Still believe that the Marshall/Cournoyer dual-guitar attack is one of the most potent in the musical world. Both of you are masters at pulling out the amazing lead and then dropping back to give room to the other guitarist, while still maintaining a discreetly different timbre and texture that differentiates, and accentuates, each person's individual style.
Congratulations on a great recording, hope it sells a million.

- Mark Pollock

You guys ate nails Saturday. The show was so juicy and strong. I loved your sister's voice with the band. She really knows how to do it. Did you have an unusual time Saturday night? I thought the band was inspired/highly connected to the audience, and my son Kyle (loadout crew) said they actually had to force you to stop playing. Why was this (I think I know)? I'm so happy about the sound of the guitars. All that woody tone in your ES just jumped out, clear as day.

For me, the second set was magical. You guys were playing beautifully as a group - feeding off of each other and taking the music higher and higher together. I'm accustomed to the outstanding individual player, but it's so rare to hear a band where everyone is firing on all cylinders. Each time I looked out or across to your audience, I saw something unusual for a club; namely, I saw people facing the stage, totally engaged in the music, the collective mind egging you all on with that as-yet-unnamed psychic mojo you know all about. I've used this analogy before at the Village Hall, but again, it felt like a big living room or a small concert hall, not a bar. The audience was SO APPRECIATIVE! You looked very very happy. I hope that's the way you felt inside too.

Bruce,

I was at the Chicago concert last night at the Verizon Center and was very pleased by the opening act. I have to say that I liked your music better than the main act. So today my wife and I are going to a local shop to see if we can find any of your CD's. I saw I can order the latest on online, but I heard a song last night, I believe it was Angeline (or something like that) that I liked and am wondering what album/cd that song is on. Thanks for a great concert, and I look forward to hopefully hearing your music at future venues.

- Tom Musser

Hey Bruce

Thanks , also for a copy of your latest album. I have listened to it already twice and enjoyed the very complete liner notes which was a great adjunct to the music as they took the tunes & lyrics to the personal level of understanding each song's origin. I very much like the album, the tune are very catchy, musicianship is excellent and very creative, the lyrics are great in that they in the story telling mode which I absolutely love. Story telling is an ancient archetypal way of relating personal tales of the human experience which are universal. I think that the songs were very well thought out, executed and very well produced. GREAT JOB!!!
Be well ! Cheers !

- Chris

Hey Bruce,

This album moves me on several levels. I never thought of you as a songwriter, actually you may not have been one the last time we were in a room together. You are now. I relate to this stuff, it’s intelligent, melodic and rocks hard. These influences you mention in the liner notes [and the ones I hear] we seem to share. Allmans, ……. I’m listening to What Kind of Fool and there’s 3rd Stone and Freedom, my favorite Hendrix tune of all time! [I’ve played it off & on for years]. And a great Eliot Easton! It’s a great way to make a living, and you’re doing it right, Bruce. I saw Roy B. in Ottawa shortly before he was found dead. He was fronting a "B" band from Boston whose name I recognized. They sucked, Roy stood off to the side in the dark, playing a little and drinking a lot. You’ve gotta stay enthusiastic, look for challenges, want to always learn more and be tough. Remember Johnny Moore from Leominster? I still remember him as one of the most purely talented people I’ve ever known. He played once with James Montgomery at John Thomas’ club in Stowe. He was bitter, cynical and beaten down. What good is that? I’m really interested in your songwriting. I always thought that writing a good song is the hardest thing in music. Actually, writing a bunch of good songs is the hardest thing. There’s a great bunch here. Back in the old days I thought of you as Dickie to Phil’s Duane. There’s a tune here [Toy’s] that’s Betts-ish, although you play on the changes more [Dickie would generally stick to one scale]. Really nice. I’m mailing you a cassette of some varied things I’ve done up here. Just my way of letting you know I’m trying hard, too. If there’s something I can help you with, musically or otherwise, let me know. Must Hear More Stuff!

- Pete

Bruce,

"Kalispell" by the Bruce Marshall Group is full of something rare these days: Great music that doesn’t rely on gimmicks, Bruce writes and performs technically excellent tunes with heart. From the edgy "Last Call and First Light", to the joyous "Say Little", to the soulful title tune, this is a great listen. An unbelievable musician himself, Bruce surrounds himself with the same. His guitar licks will get your heart racing and thank god somebody still plays the dobro!! I liked it so much I’m buying three more for gifts. I give it four stars **** out of a possible four!!

- Becky Davidson

Hi Bruce,

Just got your new CD today and I'm just blown away. Kalispell captures the whole story so well it almost brought tears to my eyes.. way to go, friend. Dancehall sweat kicks serious butt.. I may try to talk my band into covering that one (that is if you don't mind a bunch of Canucks covering your songs!) I'm not even through the whole album yet but I had to thank you right away. You've put me in a great mood to play our gig tonight. Keep the tunes flowing, and keep in touch.

- John Merchant

Hey man,

I got the CDs today, thank you. Just beautiful that 92 one is hot, I really dig Human Race, If Dreams Were Money, and Snake Skin Boots those are my favorite 3 songs on that CD although the whole thing kicks butt big time!!! Now the new one. Last Call and First Light, Dance Hall Sweat, This Ol’ Cowboy, Man Out Of Time and House Lo Mien are winners in my book!! The whole thing really is a nice piece of art, and I love the fact that you keep the blues alive in your music too.....
Thanks so much

- Ken

Hi Bruce,

Thanks so much for an incredible evening. I didn't know there was such beautiful music around like your band until last Friday night. You all work well together and that usually brings out the harmonious free flow of the music which is unique.

- Cindy

Hi Bruce and Guys,

My girlfriend and I heard you for the first time a month or so ago at the Grog. We could not believe our ears. We both became instant fans of BMG. This past Friday, we were at the Sit n' Bull with two other couples that we brought along to hear you for the first time. We left that night with four more of your fans. I also purchased a copy of Kalispell Friday night and have just about worn it out already. I have nearly 300 cd's in my collection but Kalispell has already made it into my top 10 and may have a permanent home in my 5 cd carousel. Thanks for a great collection. I have always been a Jazz fan but you may have a Blues convert on your hands. We look forward to seeing you all at the Grog on Jan 31st and hopefully we can bring along some more new fans from New Hampshire.

When you find something special, it is best to be shared. See you at the Grog.

- Ray Cardello

Bruce,

Absolutely loved the show

- you guys were on fire! Got the sense from the people around us

- some of which I think were hearing you for the first time

- of "Who the heck are these guys?? They're really good!!!" The bartender was blown away, by his own admission....
Our best,

- Rob & Kerry

Bruce,

I LOVED Kalispell!! I gave a copy to the national PD for all Entercom radio stations. I'll check with him and see what's happening. I especially loved being a part of it. I think it's the best goddam CD you've done to date. There's a vibe on it that just "happened"...and when you hear all the songs in context, it makes you feel good! Montgomery's a beast!

- Bill

Hello Bruce,

We enjoyed your gig at Muddy River. The band was really tight. Really in the groove! Your memory is impressive; I can't believed you remembered all the details from our first meeting months ago! We picked up a copy of "Kalispell." What a great album (or "record" as you referred to it.)! I guess at the concert I was enjoying dancing to the music too much to notice how amazing your songwriting talents are. The up-tempo numbers like "Last call and First Light" and "Dancehall Sweat" really rock and the lyrical ballad pieces are wonderfully plaintive. Nice work. Hope to see/hear you again soon.
Peace,

- Marc Wilson

Hi Bruce,

Kalispell is a masterpiece! I must say that I "liked" Love of the Ride but I "love" this one. You have written and performed a wonderful group of songs. The intricate beats and backbeats are especially pleasing to me. I like music that is interesting and can be listened to over and over and still hear something new. It has a nice layered mix of instrumentation throughout which also makes it very interesting. The guitar playing also sounds fresh with some super licks! I especially like Kalispell and Cold April Rain but really they are all great! I want to thank you for doing such a wonderful version of This Ol Cowboy. Being a Toy Caldwell fanatic I have to say that this is my favorite cover of one of his songs that I have ever heard. You managed to make it your version while still keeping the real sound and essence of Toy's version. I am sure he would be proud! I really do love it! I also love the detailed liner notes. I love knowing the genesis of songs along with the lyrics. Few musicians provide this insight into the songs. Overall it really is a fantastic cd and one you should be proud of. I know that I will be listening to this one over and over.

Keep up the good work!

- Dennis

This band is the best. This was a CD release party and the band was in fine form. The band is a great dance band with kick ass original tunes as well as some great old time standards: Tore Down, Friend of the Devil, etc. I picked up their CD at this show and it is unbelievable. I had both Bruce and Dave sign the CD. Dave is the band's guitar player and he is something to behold. It's hard to believe that a band of this quality plays these nice small venues. The CD is fantastic and both me and my wife play it often. I now want to get one of Bruce's older CDs just to increase my collection. If you like Blues/Rock and Roll, and also like to dance, this band will not disappoint you. I cannot say enough good about this band; great music, great guys a wicked fun night out. DO IT!! GET out and see THEM!!!!

Bruce,

We caught your show last time in Natick at that funky theatre, and what a great show it was! The lack of the drunken murmur allowed us to really hear and enjoy your music...but I did miss having a beer! Good luck on Saturday.

Hi Bruce,

Had a great time seeing the whole group perform at the Big Easy last Saturday night (1/11/03). This was the first time I've seen the band with the fiddle player. What a nice compliment to your sound. The new CD (Kalispell) is fantastic. I've been playing it for friends with a variety of musical preferences and it seems to find universal appeal. I love "Dancehall Sweat & Cheap Perfume". I see the cover song as a very probable hit. The Big Easy CD release party was great, even without the actual production copies. Good idea to cut some CD's with the black & white packaging (bet these become collectors editions). The band cranked. The voice level of the mics was perfect for hearing the lyrics. Dave's guitar playing was superb. The rhythm section was tight and steady. It's obvious you guys have some history playing together. Even though it was wicked cold there was a good crowd there, lots of loyal fans braving the temps to catch one of the class acts out there today. Everyone there seemed to be drawn into the good times, can't keep your feets from dancin' atmosphere.

Then this past Friday night at Bray's Brew Pub for your solo act. Another great time. Nice crowd with lots of familiar folk. Seemed like a party at someone's house. The songs don't lose any momentum in the solo mode. Milwaukee Slim on harp was a nice accompaniment while he sat in.Can't wait til you get back to North Conway. We'll have a smokin' time when you do. Peace, man.
My best to the lovely Michelle.

- Gil

Hello Bruce,

Your Friends & Fans

Bruce,

I listened to your CD last night and on the way to work again. The 2nd song sounds great in the intro, that's the biggest sound on the CD, it has a Hootie and the Blowfish effect. I like the sound and feel that the fiddle adds better than the sax with your songs. (Although I am a huge saxophone fan in general) This tune would be great in movie sound track. You should pitch this to some publishing house or promoter for movie sound tracks. Dance Hall Sweat and Cheap Perfume is my favorite on the CD. Great tune, great groove, great guitar work and production. It reminds me of Brooks and Dunn. (You should pitch it to them) I'm sure you know that they have won Entertainers and Album of the Year several times. They are 1 of the most successful Country performers of all time. Your performance of that song would play well on any country radio station. You should push that song. I may have these numbers mixed up but.... I really like the tone of your voice on #12 The mandolin intro sounds great on #13 (reminds me of Jethro Tull) #14 has a great live sound like The Allman Brothers with the B3 and the harmony lead guitars I like your voice when you sing in the normal tone that you use then move into a very expressive natural distortion to accent an occasional word. The vocal distortion engages the listener in a very emotional and personal way. That's what sets you apart from other singers. I like it when you do the southern boogie growl which is great in a live performance but sounds a little dated in a recording and less universal. Over all great job on the CD. There are a lot of different sounds and qualities.
Thanks

- Mark

Bruce -

Thank you so much for a GREAT concert Thursday! I've had lots of rave reviews! The crowd was wild about you! Your band is great

- a group of very talented and really nice guys. I can't wait to see you all play again. I have the schedule and it looks like I'll be at Kennebunkport with Didi. And who knows who else we'll drag with us! And if you or any of the other guys want to come to Castle Hill on a Thursday, we have concerts through the 22nd of August - every Thurs. Music at 7 but come early and hang out. Let me know and I'll get you in....
Thanks again Bruce - See you soon -Best

- Trish

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for the last minute tickets, Jean and I enjoyed hearing you play. You sounded great, in fact we both agree that your music was far better than Chicago. You were pretty incredible...the way you handled yourself in front of hundreds of people. You are so good at what you do Bruce! I hope everything is well and you aren't getting beat up by working too much. Also had a great time hanging at Jean's house

- memorable to say the least.
Talk to you soon.

- Raina

My sisters (Anne, Elizabeth and Terry) and I had a blast at your show with BB King. You and James sounded great and looked like you were really having fun up there. And, I can't believe that BB King just keeps on going. It was a fun night out with the girls in celebration of Elizabeth's birthday. I saw that you were playing with Dan Fogelberg and I was so disappointed that I couldn't make my way to that one. Dan Fogelberg is one of my all time favorites. I - as well as my brothers (especially John who played all his stuff) and sisters always loved his music, especially his older music - one of my favorites - Part of the Plan. I remember that Longer than ..... was one of the first songs I learned on the piano. Ah, the memories!

Hi Bruce Marshall,

We met briefly Sunday nite at Oakdale at the Dan Fogelberg concert. I was pleasantly surprised to see you there because I had only heard you once before at Foxwoods Casino back in March. I actually went there to hear James Montgomery but really enjoyed you and your band too. So to hear you again Sunday nite was a treat. It was a great show and you now have a new fan. I hope I can get to hear you play again sometime in the future when and if you're ever around the area. You sounded great Sunday nite!

- Rhea

Bruce,

Thanks for another excellent, high-energy, kick-ass show. We hated to leave before the last set, but we all have obligations today. Looking forward to seeing you and the band (or you solo) soon. The BMG is one of the very few bands that we can count on for great music. By the way, the sound was very good last night - we liked the new setup.
Best regards,

- Richard
